The play "Frida" is dedicated to the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Having come into contact with death still very young, she was born again, but already as an original artist. Frida Kahlo is a Mexican with Indian roots. In her work the influences of Mexican folklore and ancient Indian traditions are strong, in many of her paintings the symbolism of the Aztec and Maya tribes is used.
The production and the tragic biography of the artist inspired the production of the flamenco show "Frida" by its author and production director Natalia Zaikov. The first picture of Kahlo was a self-portrait that forever determined the main direction of her work: "I write myself, because I spend a lot of time alone and because I am the topic that I know best." Natalia Zaikova - a flamenco dancer and the main performer of the performance - incredibly managed to translate this art diary into the language of flamenco. But passion, the inner powerful fire and love of Frida could not be expressed otherwise. In addition, chiseled plastic flamenco in its grace and symbolism of each movement is consonant with Kalo's paintings, in which all elements are endowed with a certain meaning.
The performance of the play is based on the main stages of the artist's life, beginning with the accident in which she was 17 years old, and ending with her passing away. The play is based on the organic interaction of dance and video projections of Frida's paintings, which further strengthen the impression of the action.
