Story
Artistic director of the theater "At the Nikitsky Gate" Mark Rozovsky puts on the play "Anna Karenina", based not only on the text of the novel, but also on the course of lectures about Leo Tolstoy, which Vladimir Nabokov read to American students. It was this work that the writer considered "the highest model of moral literature".
The performance received the "compound" title of V.Nabokov "Anna Karenina. Lecture », reflecting not only the director's intention, but also the trend of the modern drama theater - the confusion of contexts and concepts. According to Mark Rozovsky, the new production was conceived by him in the context of the passing Year of Literature: "This coincides with the general tasks of the culture of our country - to take Tolstoy's masterpiece and try to understand all its complicated interlacings and its architectonics with the help of one of the greatest writers of the 20th century."
The performance will certainly not be staged, only some key scenes will be transferred to the stage. The intrigue of the production is further strengthened by the fact that the views of the director and Nabokov on one of the most dramatic works of Tolstoy diverge, but it is to Rozovsky that "the look of a refined and virtuously Russian-speaking artist" is important, because he gives the modern viewer "new optics, a new key to understanding Tolstoy ".
Review
Nabokov is not only an ingenious writer, but also an unbeatable reader. He knew how to read Tolstoy's novels like nobody else, to peer at his characters. Did Nabokov see what we are?
A little dash behind the line, the author of the twentieth century, the facet of the twentieth century, delves into a multifaceted and filigree novel of the nineteenth century.
There are two love stories, the main of which is the novel of Anna and Vronsky. Yes, her, Anna Karenina. She is a kind of ideal woman, a nature subtly feeling and passionate.
How does the plot moves, unexpected turns of events and life collisions that led to the tragic finale, Nabokov? Do you agree with him?
