Performance based on the play by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt
Translation from French by Alexander Brailovsky
Lyrical play, permeated with subtle humor, raises questions that sooner or later each person asks himself. How could life have been formed if many years ago a different choice had been made? The protagonist 65-year-old Alexander Suchet mysteriously returns to the past. Alexander will have to enter into dialogue with himself and be at the crossroads of fate on the “most terrible day of his life” ...
The French playwright is in demand all over the world, however, he has a special relationship with St. Petersburg and the Buff Theater. Seventeen years ago, Buff first introduced the Russian audience to the work of Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt. The play “The Libertine” in his play continues to this day with success on the theater stage. Seeing the brilliant game of the Honored Artist of Russia Murad Sultaniyazov, Schmitt called him the best performer of the role of Denis Diderot and expressed the hope that the artist will play again in the performance of his work.
Many years later, Murad Sultaniyazov not only plays the main role in the play “If you start from the beginning,” but also for the first time (together with the popular actor of Buff, Ilya Kuznetsov) acts as a director-director.
