Review

"Alcina, or the Magic Island" by Georg Friedrich Handel - one of the finest operas of the Baroque. Divine music and a poetic plot inspired director George Isahakyan and conductor Alevtina Ioffe to put this masterpiece as a special performance for the most extraordinary audience - for expectant mothers.

In the middle of the ocean is hidden the island of the magician Alcina. Any traveler who gets here, she turns into stones, trees, animals and flowers. And only Knight Ruggero manages to avoid this fate. The great sorceress falls in love with him. The abandoned bride Ruggero Bradamante rushes to his search.

A series of love affair, jealousy, resentment, oaths and forgiveness - the whimsical turns of the plot unfold on the stage, sound delightful, perfect music.
