"Flowers" is a Moscow rock band, created by guitarist and songwriter Stas Namin in 1969. The creative destiny of the group evolved in different ways. "Flowers" for their forty years of history, as if lived a few lives, and in 2010 started another, a new one. From 1969 to 1979 as a student ensemble "Flowers" became popular in Moscow and produced a record at the firm "Melody". Because of its unlike the Soviet style, the group falls under the complete ban of the central Soviet media and it manages to produce only rare compromise entries, which, despite strict censorship, for the first time introduce an element of rock music into the country's mass musical culture. In 1974, "Flowers" begin professional tours and, after a conflict with the Philharmonic and the banning of the name by the Ministry of Culture of the USSR, are being restored in 1977 as the Stas Namin Group. Still banned in the media, they write new hits and restore popularity with a new name.

Since 1980, on the wave of the "Olympic Thaw", Stas Namin's band "Flowers" begins to appear episodically in the media, releases the first author's album "The Hymn to the Sun" and manages to record two more custom albums - "Reggae, Disco, Rock" and "Surprise" For M. Légran. " Then again, the conflict of the group with the regime is aggravated and they again fall under the ban, and the new repertoire of the "Flowers" is also prohibited on the "Melodies". Even Namin's "innocent" song "We wish you happiness," written in 1982, first appears only in late 1984. In 1986, together with perestroika, the group suddenly starts a new life. "Flowers" for the first time go to the West and for four years make a world tour, almost not working in the USSR. In the 90's the group stopped its activity for 10 years.

In 1999, Namin again gathers the group. "Flowers" celebrate their 30th anniversary with a big concert, in which musicians who worked earlier in the band, as well as friends - stars of domestic rock music take part. But even after this concert the band does not return to public life. "Flowers" work in the Moscow Theater of Music and Drama, created by Stas Namin, participating in the creation of the musical "Hair", rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" and other performances.

Being a kind of author's project of Namin, "Flowers" in the 1970's and 80's did not have a permanent composition, and all the songs were recorded and performed by various soloists. The group's creative person was, first of all, her original style, unlike anybody. In the first 20 years, more than fifty musicians played in the band, many of whom later created their ensembles, became famous composers and performers. The constant composition of the group "Flowers" appeared only in 2000, and, according to Namin, this is the strongest composition in the history of the group: Oleg Predtechensky - vocals and guitar; Valery Diorditsa - vocals and keys; Alexander Gretsinin - vocals and bass guitar; Yuri Vilnin - guitar; Alan Aslamazov - keyboards, vocals and saxophone.

In 2009, in the year of its fortieth anniversary, in fact, after a thirty-year break, "Flowers" decide to revitalize their creative public life.

In the summer of 2009, the band recorded at the legendary Abbey Road studio in London all their famous hits created between 1969 and 1982. The double album "Back to the USSR" becomes an original result of the first period of their work.

In 2010, again at the Abbey Road studio, "Flowers" recorded a new album, which included banned songs written in the eighties but never published, and three new songs: "A Hymn to the Heroes of Our Time", "Light and Joy" and " Open your window. " Last and gave the name of the album. The World Society of Sound Society of Sound, created by Peter Gabriel, exclusively chose this album for its VIP clients as the most interesting work of the year and included it in its catalog.

In the same year 2010 the band played its anniversary concert "Flowers-40" (in Crocus City Hall) and released DVD and CD. In this concert, the group managed to do what for various reasons did not work in previous years. The concert summed up the forty-year work of the band, presenting all the famous songs of "Flowers" in the standard performance as they were used to listen to fans still on records in the 1970s. It also involved musicians from the early bands, friends and guests. For the musicians, the concert "Flowers-40" in a certain sense summed up the classical restrained style established by the early Beatles and the image within which they were used to perceive all these years.

In 2012, "Flowers" played the second concert at Crocus City Hall, where they presented their new modern repertoire. They were no longer those "Flowers", to which all are accustomed. As if having freed themselves from their image, which was formed in the 1970s, they immediately jumped to the present day. Their new songs and style differ from the early songs of the 70s as much as the first Beatles songs differ from their last albums. DVD, Blu-ray and CD three-hour concert consists of two parts, released on different disks as different albums: - HOMO SAPIENS ("The Intelligent Man" album) included an instrumental introduction and 12 new songs presented as a rock performance with its inner Dramaturgy, reinforced video installation. - the album FLOWER POWER ("The Power of Flowers") included 13 songs - modern remakes of famous hits of the band and new songs that "Flowers" performed together with their friends and guests - the best musicians of the country.

The program of these albums for the first time in a live concert presented to the audience today's Stas Namin group "Flowers", which, preserving all of its musical principles that developed in the 70's and 80's, developed them and transposed them into modern rock 2010s.
