MOSCOW STATE THEATER OF THE CLASSICAL CHOREOGRAPHY LA CLASSIQUE BALLET
It was founded in 1990 by the Union of Theater Workers of the USSR.
The theater is headed by the Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts
Elik Gelmanovich Melikov
Artist and designer by education, he was invited to lead the ballet theater of the classical choreography \"LA CLASSIQUE\" as director and artistic director from its very founding, and for more than 28 years has been its permanent leader.
At the present time in the playbill of the theater there are such pearls of classical ballets as Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadere, Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, Don Quixote, and many others performances of the classical ballet repertoire.
Over the years many famous dancers, choreographers and teachers performed and collaborated with the La Classique Theater. Among them were Nadezhda Pavlova, Lyubov Kunakova, Alexander Bogatyrev, Lyudmila Semenyaka, Viktor Eremenko, Alla Mikhalchenko, Nina Semizorova, Irina Pyatkina, Ruslan Pronin, Nikita Dolgushin, Alexander Prokofiev, Serge Manget and many others.
Currently, the troupe has more than 60 professional ballet dancers. Annually conducts selection of young and talented specialists, which allows the theater to set itself the most complex creative tasks.
The theater has staged such unique ballets as \"Coppelia\" and \"Merry Widow\".
The troupe of the theater conducts active tour activity both in Russia and abroad.
Active tour activities and the richest repertoire allowed the theater to become one of the most recognizable in Europe and to earn recognition of its viewers in Italy, Switzerland, France, Austria, Norway, China, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia, Britain, Ireland, Egypt, Poland, Gabon, Argentina and Brazil.

In the very center of the capital, in the Mos room, on the Pushechnaya street, in the former Alpine Rose restaurant in the wonderfully preserved mirror hall, on a small but cozy stage, the action of a fairy tale unfolded. I was pleased that the scenery and costumes were made very authentically. The curtain opened, and the tale began. Don Quixote is historically one of the most beloved ballets among Moscow audiences, since it was staged in 1869 in Moscow, on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater. Flamboyant, incendiary, eccentric and very complex technically, Don Quixote went down in history as an example of the “Moscow style”.
The plot is based on one of the short stories of the famous novel by Miguel de Cervantes \"The cunning hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha\". In the ballet, Don Quixote himself is a minor character, and in the center of the narrative is the love story of the innkeeper's daughter Kitri and the barber Basilio.
On the stage of the Mosconcert Hall, this ballet will be presented by the Moscow State Ballet Theater of Classical Choreography La Classique under the direction of Elik Melikov. The collective sees its main goal in preserving the traditions of Russian classical ballet and its popularization. The theater's repertoire includes such pearls of world ballet art as: The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, La Bayadère, Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, Don Quixote, Paquita, Walpurgis Night and others.
The team has been led by the Honorary Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Elik Melikov since its foundation. Even among the spoiled metropolitan audience, the performances of this group are always a success. An active touring activity allowed the theater to become one of the most recognizable in Europe, and the Russian ballet seasons in their performance have earned recognition not only of spectators, but also of ballet critics.
