ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
Staged 140 years ago, the opera “Eugene Onegin” by P. Tchaikovsky became one of the most repertoire on the Russian and world opera scenes. Five years after the first presentation, one of the reviewers predicted her longevity. And this is not surprising! In Eugene Onegin, Pushkin’s poetry became a source of ingenious music that conquers with its sincerity, drama and trembling. “This is a wonderful composition, this is music, which attracts us to itself and penetrates so deeply into the soul that it cannot be forgotten,” wrote Dvorak to Tchaikovsky.
And every year the musical theaters of the planet show us new and new productions of this masterpiece. Isn't everything already said in this “intimate but strong drama”? Is it possible to open something else in it?
In the theater "Through the Looking Glass" sure that you can! Here, in their own way, they read and heard the work of Pushkin - Tchaikovsky. How else? After all, the freshness of the music of Onegin is felt as “the freshness of the annual spring <...>, when“ it seems as if everything, every detail in it is familiar and experienced. Suddenly, the score will fall into the hands, and again the music will blow from spring freshness and newness again ... ”(B.V. Asafiev).
It's time for us to opera soon!
