"The Tsar's Bride," written by NA Rimsky-Korsakov in 1898, turned to the events of 1572, to this day remains one of the most popular in the world opera repertoire. It is put, it is sung, played, listened and watched always with great enthusiasm. In it, everything has not been solved yet and is fully determined, therefore new actors and actors are waiting for new productions. Now the "Tsar's Bride" entered the poster of the "Through the Looking Glass" theater.
In this great Russian opera, truly Shakespearean passions are raging. All the events here take place with real people. Their love, jealousy, revenge, incinerate all around and lead to a series of terrible villainies. And behind all this stands the figure of Ivan the Terrible, personifying the lawlessness of power and trampling on the person.
But in this gloom there is a tremendous light and purity, coming from the incredible beauty of Rimsky-Korsakov's melodism. The genius music of the composer raises dramatic collisions of the plot to the level of a high tragedy.
