"Music that heals the soul"
"This choir can be listened to as long as you please - you can not get enough" - the Russian and foreign press do not stint on the laudatory responses to the Holiday Patriarchal Men's Choir of the Moscow Danilov Monastery.
Continuing the traditions of Russian banners, demestvennogo and line singing, this unique singing group is now in fact the face of Russian performing arts in the field of church music. The choir participates in all festive services and represents Russia at international festivals of sacred music.
For the overwhelming majority of metropolitan residents, it's not easy to enter the temple's schedule and style of life, where you can listen to the church choir, forget about the vanity of the world and experience a blissful state of appeasement. Fortunately, there are church collectives who see their enlightenment mission in acquaintance with a wide audience with samples of Russian church and folk culture of the 15th-20th centuries. Among them - the Festive Patriarchal male choir of the Danilov Monastery. It exists since 1983 and has the status of the choir of the Synodal residence of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
There are more than 800 works in the choir's repertoire: the whole spectrum of liturgical music, romances, historical, military-patriotic, folk and drinking songs, as well as Russian (Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Taneyev) and foreign classics (Mozart, Beethoven, Bruckner). Speaking in concerts, the choir sees its mission in acquainting the public with the samples of church and folk Russian culture of the XV-XXI centuries.
Manages the Holiday Men's Choir of the Moscow Danilov Monastery Regent Georgy Safonov is a graduate of the Gnesins' Russian Academy of Music, laureate of the First All-Russian Conductor Competition.
