"Travels with my aunt" - an eccentric biography of an English lady who, in her advanced years, retained her cheerful disposition and propensity for adventures. This, by the author's own definition, the "serious" novel is full of comic situations, irony and grotesque. Henry Pulling, a retired manager of the London bank, meets his seventy-five-year-old aunt, for the first time in more than 50 years. She persuades him to go with her on a journey. They make a voyage visiting exotic places of the world: Paris, Istanbul and Paraguay, communicating with hippies, war criminals and CIA agents, reviving from a sad retirement life. He, with his Puritan morality, pays attention to trifles, thinks about the arrangement of that wide world that opens around him, and what is pleasant, the polyphony of the world. "Just take it easy." Life experience, an easy adventurous bias and subtle aunt's humor gradually destroy Henry's protective armor, his life is radically changing.
