The performance of the famous director and choreographer Sergei Zemlyansky was created based on the novel “Resurrection” by Leo Tolstoy. The plot of the novel, the fate of the main characters and their experiences are shown exclusively with the help of plastics and choreography - body language and gestures, "without words." Sergey Zemlyansky: "Resurrection" is a play about love and faith, betrayal and vice, honor and recklessness, about human destiny. " Maxim Obrezkov: “When Sergey told me about the plan to put on the play“ Resurrection ”, I immediately had corridors of human destinies that sometimes do not overlap, we see each other, but we cannot touch each other, and it turns out that we are passing by. Like trains that rush towards each other, but never stop. ”
Critics called "Resurrection" "an amazing performance in the beauty and depth of the transmission of the main meanings of the novel by Leo Tolstoy."
As acknowledged by Nikita Mikhalkov himself, he simply became afraid when he heard Sergei Zemlyansky intent to take up the novel “Resurrection”: “I even took a pause when I heard it, and then I thought: if you don’t give people the opportunity to do something that you don’t you know how, everything will become just hardened. A person who does not prepare a leader for himself, does not prepare a team, gradually turns into one who suppresses everything new. ” The novel about the resurrection of the soul of the aristocrat Dmitry Nekhlyudov begins from the moment when the imprisoned Katyusha Maslova, the victim of his youthful passion, is summoned to a court session. The whole story of her life up to this point the writer will tell a little later. This is a novel memory. And Sergey Zemlyansky together with production designer Maxim Obrezkov used this move. They built their performance not in chronological order, but as scraps of memories and actions of the main character, Nekhlyudov. Sophisticated costumes, laconic and expressive scenery, and the music corresponding to the performance made the production of Sergey Zemlyansky deep, intelligent and aesthetic.
The first open-air performance was held on January 11, 2017, where the performance was positively noted by famous cultural and art figures, including Alexander Adabashyan, Igor Yatsko, Kirill Razlogov, Alexander Koruchekov, Alexander Bogun, Anna and Nadezhda Mikhalkov, Irina Bezrukova, Stanislav Bondarenko, Katerina Spitz, Denis Dorokhov and many others.
