Two orchestras, two choirs, organ - 200 people simultaneously on the stage of the Svetlanov Hall will bring together a large-scale project Concerto grandioso. Such extraordinary powers made it possible to include in the program compositions written for large ensembles - various combinations of orchestra and chorus.
The triumphal march from Aida by Verdi, Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor by Borodin, Suite from Carmen by Bizet - few of the 19th century music can compare with their orchestral brilliance and imaginative brightness! The most famous musical masterpieces will sound against the backdrop of a unique video sequence - projections of magnificent art canvases personally selected by the author of the project, conductor Nicola Giuliani.
However, along with the win-win spectacular accents of the concert evening, musical surprises await the audience. For example, Mussorgsky's “Ivan's Night on Lysaya Gora” in the version with a choir and a soloist-baritone is a completely exclusive rarity, for which one can sincerely thank both the maestro and all the musicians. It was in this form, and not purely instrumental, that the fantasy was originally conceived, its material entered the "collective" opera "Mlada", written by Musorsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Cui and Borodin.
Maestro Giuliani is well known as a brilliant interpreter of Italian operas. In an interview, he admitted that one of his innermost desires is to perform operas by Russian composers. And the only thing that does not allow him to decide on this is the lack of knowledge of the Russian language, without which, in his opinion, it is impossible to truly immerse himself in the opera score. The new project allows him to bring his dream closer - the concert will be completed by the grandiose final chorus from the opera “A Life for the Tsar” (“Ivan Susanin”) by Glinka.
