Poor Lisa12+
Story
A musical based on the story of N. Karamzin
Mark Rozovsky as a director, author of the play and music, with the help of Yuri Ryashentsev's poetry, created from a very sentimental, if not tearful, work by Nikolai Karamzin a merry, elegant, comedy performance, the genre of which did not in any way break the sad ending with the suicide of poor Lisa. Since then, this performance has been kept on the playbill of the theater.
In 1989, the play "Poor Lisa" became a laureate of the Edinburgh Festival (First in Fringe Prize). The premiere of the performance took place in 1973 on the stage of the Bolshoi Drama Theater (St. Petersburg), after getting to know the young leader of the famous student theater of the Moscow State University "Our Home" Mark Rozovsky with the master Georgy Tovstonogov in the elevator (!)
Karamzin's small masterpiece "Poor Liza" is a monument of the genre of "sentimental prose" in Russia. And Mark Rozovsky removed all the suffering "heaviness" from this prose and made a musical-dramatic play, ironic, light, not leaving a trace of bitterness and betrayal.
