In the Soviet Union, and then in Russia, the French comedies enjoyed the special love of the audience.
It is French, but not exquisite English, not simple American or even Italian, although the latter can be argued. Each of us can recall both the stories and beautiful actors and even whistle your favorite tunes. The fact is that for all the dissimilarity of our and their reality, at the heart of the comedic dramaturgy of the two countries was always the little Gogol man-naive, simple and terribly charming. He could be a police inspector or a journalist - anyone, the comic of situations to which he fell due to his unusualness remained, and a certain philosophical overtones, thanks to which the plot remained in memory for a long time, and the touching faces of the characters were remembered for a long time. "Fool's Supper" is just such a play. For all its apparent lightness and comic, it resembles the fable of La Fontaine. In the finale, the viewer ponders the eternal questions of being: how to live, what is the most important thing in life, what is good, where are we moving? And, necessarily, the lyric love line, otherwise what kind of France is it? And French humor, otherwise what kind of comedy is this? And music, and dancing, and even clownery, otherwise what kind of "buff"?

Review
Charming comedy, based on the play by Francis Weber "Dinner with a fool"!
Everyone has their own quirks! Someone collects cars, someone collects coins, and someone created his collection ... fools! Yes, it's the fools who are interested in this company, so everyone brings with them fools and simpletons.
So Francois Pignon was on the list of fools. Yes, that's just dinner did not take place: Pierre Beauchamp, who invited Francois to dinner, broke the sciatica!
And who is the fool in this case? Are all these people who invite fools to dinner, much smarter than their guests? Are not they entangled in their wealth, wives, lovers and mistresses? And even for the smart ones they give out!
