Don Quixote is one of the most popular classical ballets. Temperamental, bright, fiery, he is replete with beautiful Spanish dances, attracts with many ballet tricks and the most famous fouet in the world. The music for the ballet was written by the Austrian composer Ludwig Minkus, who lived for many years in Russia and worked fruitfully with the choreographer Marius Petipa.
The plot is based on the events of the immortal novel of the same name by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, to which an independent love line is added to the ballet. The main character, having read chivalric novels, goes on a journey for exploits. The innkeeper’s daughter, Kitri, seems to him a beautiful Dulsinea. But Kitri loves the Barber of Basil. A series of fun adventures ends with the wedding of Kitri and Basil and the complete collapse of Don Quixote's ridiculous dreams.

They created the original edition of the famous ballet, composing the virtuoso role of Gamache and inventing new comic characters (Bachelor of Carrasco, niece of Don Quixote Antonina) who play the role of Rocinante. All this made the ballet more lively and effective, enriched its drama.
