Since the time of the story "Childhood" in the 6th grade, Gorky for me was a boring and not at all catchy writer. But I went to the play "At the Bottom" with curiosity. I already knew that the director Y. Grymov knows how to stage classics in such a way that the boring becomes interesting, the philosophical becomes accessible, and the protracted becomes dynamic. Expectations came true 100%! The modern inhabitants of Rublevka speak in the language of Gorky, and you would never think that the play was written in 1902. Despite branded items and rich surroundings, people's problems have changed little. Someone is looking for love, who is the truth, someone is already holding the "bottom" with a stranglehold. The actors play great! Each has created a unique image. Vasilisa, Vaska Ashes, Actor seemed especially bright to me. I read reviews - many consider Luka in the play as a negative hero. And he seemed pretty to me. In a difficult situation, he is always there, finds encouraging words, calls on a person to be human. This is important! Music perfectly complements what is happening on stage. I liked the performance and will be understandable to high school students when studying the work. Theater "Modern", in my opinion, is doing a very important job - it reveals the world of classical literature for young people, and this is very valuable. And yes ... I have not read the play, but now I will probably read it ...
My new love is the "Modern" theater! I love it! I just liked EVERYTHING !!! The theater itself is very beautiful - leather sofas, many different unusual lamps, a shining star on the stairs and teddy bears for social distance in free seats, in the auditorium. I really liked the performance! It retains the language and style of the classics, and modern details, recognizable music make the plot of marriage relevant and understandable! Young people are so interesting and accessible! The costumes are unusual, the actors played cool especially Lolita Milyavskaya. In the final, she really touched me: she was left alone. There were many suitors, but nothing came of it. Everyone wanted to marry Agafya Tikhonovna. Whom the mother forced, whom the comrade brought, alone the whole house and the outbuilding assessed. Understandable, accessible, modern! Thanks to director Yuri Grymov for introducing us to the classics so easily! Very bright, smart, with a sense of humor production! I would like to thank the Modern Theater for the invitation. You are best!
The play "War and Peace" in the theater "Modern" left a rather controversial impression. Above all praise, the musical and visual-plastic components of the performance. More precisely, "performance" is too small a word for what we are immersed in. “Action” is perhaps a more accurate designation for what is happening in the building of the “Modern” theater for more than four hours (and not only on the stage). This action is tragic, and sometimes frankly nerves. The director took a step unusual for the drama director: he invited the Russian chorus named after Sveshnikov to participate, who actually played the role of the main character of the play. The Russian people became this hero, it was he on the stage from the first minutes to the end, it was the voices of the choristers and the mass actions in which they participate that create the nerve and intensity of the performance. Great music and brilliant vocals, excellent costumes (more than 400 are sewn together !!), strong lighting solutions - all this works for the general impression and keeps you in suspense during the performance. On the other hand, we are offered an interpretation of a great novel that someone will understand and accept, and someone (like me) will be surprised and say that “War and Peace” is about something else. In the center of the production is the spiritual path of Pierre Bezukhov. True, there is no time left to show reflections, searches, and reasoning. Thoughts and ideas are given by hint, symbol, cartoon, sometimes plastic part. The latter, by the way, is the most successful, the scene of Pierre's conversion to Freemasonry is brilliant. As a result, Pierre’s search is reduced to the path from foreign Freemasonry to the Orthodox “Russian spirit”. Well, that's the authors right.
The Modern Theater opened its theatrical season with an incredible premiere - the performance “Nirvana”. This is the second appeal of Yuri Grymov to this material. 15 years have passed since the staging of the first performance, during which time the director changed his style, his views, he went through a certain creative path. This is a completely new setting. In this performance, Yuri Grymov shows us the problems that are now relevant in society: drug addiction, family abuse and more, clearly demonstrating what such a addiction can lead to. Narcotic substances here are not just a faceless powder, they acquire a “face”. A character like “Drag” (Yuri Anpilogov) appears. It helps to show how a person who is in a “intoxicated” state cannot make decisions on his own, a “new comrade” acts for him, gradually destroying life, leading it to a logical outcome. The role of Kurt Cobain is performed by Bogdan Schukin - a young artist who has just graduated from the Schukin TI. The image of the frontman of the Nirvana group itself is very complex, filled with emotional experiences. Bogdan was able to show us the whole drama of the life of a great artist: his fears, habits, passion for music, disappointment. The role of Courtney Love is performed by Anastasia Sycheva. She supports Kurt in his frenzy and is desperate to “push” her group forward. She seemed to me a very sincere, confused girl with a difficult childhood. The scenery is interestingly solved. In the first action, we go to a disadvantaged area of the American town, and in the second - the main decoration is foam. At one point, she transforms into a child whom they are trying to take away, at another she demonstrates shattered hopes. It looks very impressive when artists wade through thick clubs of foam, throw it up, destroy it. The musical accompaniment of the performance is impeccable: the immortal songs of Nirvana help us better understand the feelings of the characters, their life. The performance will be performed on the stage of the Modern Theater twice a month, as well as on Kurt’s birthday and death day. Great music, incredible passions! I sincerely recommend visiting!
For 1 hour 40 minutes, Yuri Grymov portrayed an amazing and nagging piercing version of "At the Bottom". The performance is bright in style. The darkened space of the scene flashes with juicy spots, highlighting the main thing at this particular moment. Yes, we already know this technique, this kind of directorial style, but again and again we are surprised at the effect when the picture is instantly recorded in memory and then lives there for a long time, appearing before our eyes again and again. So what is unexpected in this performance? The idea of timelessness is unexpected. Heroes, as was announced before the start of the performance, are our contemporaries. Stylish clothes, expensive accessories, leather furniture, waiters offering food and drinks. All this would seem to be confusing, and the authors even insured themselves by making plates with the names of the heroes, but these fears are superfluous. And it’s even amazing how the original author’s text is harmonious and absolutely natural in relation to modern realities! From the first minutes it’s clear who is who. From the very first minutes, my heart breaks with sympathy and sympathy for everyone. I don’t even know if I ever had such a strong sympathy for each of the heroes of this play .. Why? Why did I just now want to hug everyone? Is it only because they are outwardly the same as me with these fashionable clothes and phones? After all, in fact, only the attributes change, and people from year to year, from century to century live all the same, they also love, suffer and die. Or because the creators of the performance managed to highlight the main thing in each, and this main thing was not that they all fell so low that they were “at the bottom” of society, but that even at the bottom they are all people, inside each of Which own tragedy and own universe? A person cowering in pain and loneliness is equally vulnerable both on the dirty basement floor and on a leather sofa. And there is no difference than drowning despair with elite alcohol or the cheapest vodka, if after a minute you still have a wasteland-noose ... And, perhaps, against the background of towers pumping oil and pleasures like massage, this pain is even more acute, because it is more difficult to accept and explain .. Even during the nods, I tried to determine for myself which of the characters hooked the most? Satin (Vladimir Levashev) with his aristocracy and the brightest facial expressions, whose monologue struck to goosebumps? Or Ashes (Victor Potapeshkin)? Whose sarcasm was so quickly replaced by pure and almost childish naivety, that I wanted to save him first of all, and maybe Vasilisa (Nadezhda Menshova)? After all, it was she who caused the strongest negative emotions? And this despite the fact that I perfectly understood the reason for all her words and actions. Or Actor (Konstantin Konushkin)? With his vulnerability and naive belief in what can still be changed? However, honestly, all the same, Luka (Alexander Tolmachev). That's what I admired every minute of his stay on stage! Bravo! The image is ambiguous, but how beautiful in essence! And the finale ... In the finale, I almost prayed that they would at least slightly tighten it, to prolong, extend this admiration for what is happening on the stage, otherwise the performance passed so swiftly that I desperately wanted it to be just the end of the first act ... go to the theater! Perhaps you, like me, when you return home, re-read the play again, already seeing the heroes exactly as they saw him in the Modern Theater
The performance is excellent. Were with children 4.5 years, 6 and 8 years. Everyone liked it. For the younger ones, it is a bit hard to listen to the story in some places (it gets boring, but not for long). In general, everything is super: actors and scenery. Small cozy room.
Theater “Modern” was for me the discovery of this season. Here is an incredibly pleasant atmosphere: large windows, live music during the intermission and before the performance, a rest room in which it is pleasant to sit and read books. And, of course, the dress code: all beautiful and elegant. The choice of the performance, of course, was also not accidental. I have already seen several productions of Grymov, it is always something enchanting. “Nested dolls on the roundness of the earth” is a tragicomedy. The performance was very vital. Such different destinies of heroines, connected only with a great desire to help your loved ones and make this world a little better. The author wished to remain incognito. There are a lot of clever thoughts in the performance: about life, about politics, about love. The performance can be disassembled by quotations. "Just think, if there are armed conflicts around every oil rig, then what will be around the perpetual motion ..... eternal war." "We managed to inspire people, the Earth is on four elephants .... this is of course complete nonsense ... but it allowed to postpone the supply of syphilis and tobacco from Latin America for 400 years." "It is impossible to invent the perpetual motion, but it can be stolen." Yury Grymov here is both a director, a set designer, a choreographer, a lighting designer, and the selection of music is also his work. Do not get tired to admire the work of this man! He knows how to create spectacular performances, they are just fun to watch. I really liked the music. Light, as always, is perfect! Clear lines, bright colors. He is a full-fledged character of the performance, helps to create unique effects. My favorite, of course, was Hermes (Alexander Gorelov). His image was perfect from appearance on stage to bows. Bright, comedic, exalts its divinity. Deity, and drinks whiskey and is ill for Juventus. Have you met such an image? Me not. Never. Nested dolls: Lika Nifontova, Maria Orlova and Nadezhda Menshova - I was also very impressed. They are so touching, vulnerable. You believe their stories. Feel how they worry about their loved ones. The performance is very strong. He touches to the depths of the soul, for a long time you think about him .... Thanks to the Modern Theater for a great evening!
I am not a fan of M. Gorky's creative work, I will say more “At the bottom” I never loved, because I consider it a very hard work. I want to say thank you to Yury Grymov, because in order to put such a work in such an unusual form and to save the text of the original source, you must have tremendous talent and courage. I like it. See for sure. There is something to discuss after the performance. Luka is beautiful, according to the Prince there are questions. Once again, thank you all, participated in the production for the pleasure of viewing.
For the first time I watched the play by Yuri Grymov. It was a "lyrical comedy" "Matryoshka on the roundness of the Earth." Well, I would argue with the creators about the genre, of course. It's not a comedy. But the performance is uniquely interesting. The modern spectator is so spoiled by bright scenography and all sorts of spectacular chips that sometimes lazy to look into yourself, think, contemplate. Here the story is clearly meaningful. Decorations, music, light, costumes do not beat, but complement. Stunning actress Matryoshka: Lika Nifontova, Nadezhda Menchova, Maria Orlova. In the end, everyone is waving to their mothers and crying. Probably, this is more a woman's play, for 30+
A fine performance for the young spectators and their parents. I do not quite understand the age limit: my child is 6 years old, we have not read a fairy tale yet, but the play was absolutely affordable for him. I have never had to explain something, the plot, the words of the Little Prince, the moral of the story - everything is as clear as it is clear. The final songs of the production - like echoes from my childhood, could not hold back tears, in the hall many mothers bowed to their children .. Incredible feelings, the atmosphere from childhood, full of love, sincerity and desire to live. Thanks a lot to the theater and actors!
This performance is recommended for children from 9 to 13 years, but if the child is prepared, tell him about this work or even read it, it is quite understandable for children 7-8 years old. A very good performance, in which many young and talented actors are involved. Given the specifics of this theater, its audience (and it is known to be small), the audience in this performance is actively involved, which is wonderful for the children's audience. Together with the actors young spectators live the journey of the Little Prince, together with him experiencing, sympathizing and marveling. They experience a wide variety of emotions. I was very impressed by the impulse of one of the young spectators, who, feeling out, ran out and hugged the little prince. I think it was unexpected for a young actor, but very nice. This is not the best gratitude!
Drama is felt in the scenery, in costumes, in dialogue and intonation, but still in the horizon of family relationships of the main characters there will be and the sun will remain. The performance is interesting to its trio of actors. Come, be sure and do not regret, I assure you !!
