Story

... In the afternoon, Lobyshev should be paid a salary. To pass the time, he goes to wander around Petersburg (in Bitov - in Leningrad). In the dark gateway the hero meets the girl and almost falls in love with her.

However, coming to the light, he discovers that the girl is completely different from the one he expected to see: she is eccentric, ugly and strangely dressed. Lobyshev becomes ashamed that he is seen with such an unattractive companion, and he seeks to get rid of a new acquaintance. But, after parting with her, the hero realizes that he has become a victim of common stereotypes, that he lives with an eye on others ...
