Story
The performance of Mark Rozovsky once again demonstrated the extraordinary relevance of this play. Written in 1959, "Rhinoceroses" - and a political pamphlet, and a sample of the theater of the absurd. In the West, the play was set primarily as an anti-fascist, social one. Directed against "massaging", collective hysteria, against ideologies that drive the person into slavery, the play received reproaches both to the left and to the right, including in artistic straightforwardness, alienation from the person. In the USSR, "Rhinoceroses", naturally, could only penetrate smuggling. Mark Rozovsky paid tribute to absurdism in the early 1960s, having received an idea of Ionesco on the paraphrases, but catching his spirit - his play "The whole day as a routine" was staged in Poland, and he was known as a Russian absurdist. On the Russian stage the theater of the absurd came with a great delay and already in the status of classics. Interest in it is obvious, and, alas, it is symptomatic that it is growing.

It's amazing that they do not even think about where these huge and thick-skinned animals suddenly appeared in their small provincial town.
People continue to go to the service and shopping, discuss news in the cafe, fall in love and marry. Only from time to time one of them grows a horn on his forehead and joins a herd of animals.
Why do these people do not want to argue, do not try to protest? Is it possible to blindly obey something that is completely absurd?
The only hope for a simple guy is his favorite girl. He is not a hero at all, but I am sure that she will defend her right to be a man with him. Is he wrong?
How dangerous and unpredictable is the massive madness!
