Trio of Grigory Fain consisting of: Grigory Fain, piano Igor Kondur, double bass Yuri Propalov, drums
Oscar Peterson is a special figure in the history of jazz: a virtuoso pianist, a true "jazz Liszt", a composer who combined the virtuosity of bebop and the classical swing school, an artist whose incredible energy can be felt in his recordings even today, many years after their appearance. In Russia, his most loyal and devoted follower is Grigory Fain: for more than half a century he has been studying Peterson's work and all this time has remained the only musician in the world who has recorded the repertoire of the legendary jazzman.
“The genius of Oscar Peterson is who inspires me,” admits Grigory Anisimovich. “Getting to its heights is an incredible task. I have spent my life performing this Canadian's repertoire, and I am proud and happy to play in Peterson's style! "
The trio of Grigory Fain includes double bass player Igor Kondur and drummer Yuri Propalov, musicians who are excellent at jazz accompaniment, ensemble skills, and solo improvisation. As always, the concert will feature compositions that are considered to be hits of jazz: the so-called "evergreen standards" and original compositions by Oscar Peterson.
