The literary basis of the play was six stories by Vasily Shukshin: "Stalled", "Light Souls", "Cosmos, Nervous System and Shmat Sala", "Suraz", "I Believe" and "Gene Proydisvet". All these works unite the theme of finding a person by their place in the world and answering the question about the meaning of life and the immortality of the soul. Behind the apparent simplicity, tenacity and sometimes ignorance of the heroes of Shukshin are hidden their spiritual depth, centuries-old wisdom and pain for Russia. The dramatic action is accompanied by old Russian village songs, collected by the famous folk musician Sergei Starostin, in the rock processing of the group "Flowers". The live performance of folk songs by actors of the theater organically intertwines into the drama of the play and adds grinding melancholy and hysteria to the literary material. Also fragments of the symphonic suite of Stas Namin were used organically in the play.
Bright scenery in the style of naive painting, created by the famous artist Katya Medvedeva, gives a special atmosphere to the production. Touching and funny, naive and paradoxical, and sometimes terrible actions of the characters allow us to see the integrity of the Russian character, its cosmic depth and uncontrollable craving for the knowledge of truth and faith inherent in all the heroes of Vasily Shukshin.
