Reconstruction of the opera by Alexei Kruchenykh, Mikhail Matyushin, Kazimir Malevich.

A hundred years ago in the town of Uusikirkko near St. Petersburg (now Polyany of the Leningrad Region) a very very small event happened: "The First All-Russia Congress of Futurists". "Very small" because the participants in the "congress" were only three: Alexey Kruchenykh, Mikhail Matyushin and Kazimir Malevich. "Grandiose" because of the kind of participants who were - firstly, and WHAT they came up with at this "congress" - secondly.

And these guys - no less than a little - invented the theater of the future under the proper name "Budylyanin", and also came up with a cube-futuristic opera "Victory over the Sun".

What came of this? A lot of things. For example, the famous "Black Square" by Malevich, which appeared for the first time as an element of the decoration of "Victory over the Sun", or his costume sketches, which now constitute the golden treasury of world art. In the same fund a worthy place is occupied also by "zaum" Kruchenykh, and the prologue written by the brilliant Velimir Khlebnikov ...

The first performances - amateur and scandalous - were only two: the first in 1913 in St. Petersburg, and the second - in 1920 in Vitebsk. After that, "Victory" was forgotten for a long time, but after the eighties there was a real explosion: the opera was tried to reconstruct the outstanding masters around the world.

We, too, in commonwealth with the Russian Museum of St. Petersburg, decided to contribute to the revival of avant-garde classics.
