Review

With the play "Three Sisters" by A. P. Chekhov, Andrei Konchalovsky continues the theatrical interpretation of the Chekhov world in the context of today. The story of the Sisters of the Prozorovs is perceived by Konchalovsky as a finely tuned dramatic symphony, which he enthusiastically conducts. In a stylish and elegant performance, a brilliant "orchestra" of performers is involved. Creating a complex stage polyphony, interpreting character characters with an unexpected, paradoxical, sometimes acutely ironic intonation, they force viewers to take a fresh look at the familiar characters of Chekhov, to relive their tragedies in a new way and to feel the contrast between their world and today's reality.

"How long ago it was, and was there anyway what was ..."

With these words from a letter written more than a hundred years ago, a performance begins.

Sisters Prozorov are deeply unhappy. These noble young women never found their place in life.

Most recently their father died, the general. Grief from this loss is difficult for them to survive.

They are gasping for the boredom of a provincial city, and most importantly for lack of love.

And their only brother is unmarried.

The eldest of sisters does not like and does not respect her husband.

The average sister remained an old maid. It seeks to fill the void of its life with a multitude of unnecessary deeds.

The younger sister fell in love, but is afraid even to admit it.

How to survive in the whirlpool of passions and anxieties? Men do not live up to their expectations.

They dream about interesting work, about a new life in a big city, about Moscow.

But it's impossible to escape from oneself.

The play is sad, but the beautiful acting game gives it the sensation of some fabulous vague dream, from which the sisters are about to wake up, that's what brother understands ... But no, fate is not! How good and Yu Vysotskaya, and A. Domogarov, and N. Vdovina, and P. Derevyanko! Yesterday I saw them in "Uncle Vanya" - completely different! Even the voices are different, not to mention the habits! Bravo!
