The play of Moliere was banned by contemporaries. For insulting religion and ministers of the church. Only five years later the play returned to the stage, and since then "Tartuffe" has been staged all over the world.
"Tartuffe" in the "Workshop", by itself, do not play about clericalism. Tartuffe is an esthete, poet, musician, sybarite. Tartuffe, in general, is not to blame for the fact that the enchanted rich bourgeois imposed on him the content. Tartuffe is so charming that I do not want to suspect him of lying and especially meanness. Refined exquisite embodiment of evil, Tartuffe bewitches, subdues and wins, carelessly sweeping away obstacles on the way.
Moliere's "Tartuffe" is a comedy. And the play "Workshop" is a comedy. At first it's very funny. And then - very funny. And then suddenly and immediately - very scary. It is frightening from the realization of the helplessness of a person in front of an overwhelmed force. From the limitless possibilities of evil. From the fact that the circle of life will turn, and Tartuffe will return. It is eternal and inevitable.

He loves and knows how to live Tartuffe for his own pleasure! He is so nice, so spontaneous in his pranks, so charming that Mr. Orgon himself was fascinated by him and hospitably welcomes in his house. Moreover, Orgon believes that before him is an unselfish righteous, almost holy person who will never deceive anyone in anything. Orgon even goes so far as to rewrite his property on Tartuffe ...

Was Tartuffe guilty of the fact that Orgon had trusted him so much? Did he want to deceive everyone, or did everything turn by itself, and he did not intend to pretend to be a saint? Despite the fact that Tartuffe has long become a common name and remains a comedic character, his image is perhaps more complex and multifaceted than it seems at first glance.
