The greatest contemporary musician Chris Norman will celebrate his 70th Anniversary with a concert in the Svetlanov Hall of the Moscow International House of Music on May 17, 2020 !!! Beginning at 19:00.
Singer Chris Norman became famous in the 70s, being a member of the Smokie music band. After a ten-year career, the vocalist began performing as a solo artist. To this day, the songs “What Can I Do”, “Living Next Door To Alice”, “I'll Meet You At Midnig” and “Stumblin'In”, recorded by a duet with Suzy Quatro, are popular.
The songs “Smokie” instantly became popular not only in their native England, but also in the USA and Europe. At that time, every tenth song of the group acquired the status of an international hit, and the tour of the performers successfully passed throughout Europe and Australia. It is worth noting that most of all the creativity of the guys from Smokie fell in love with listeners in Germany, in which their songs were regularly played on all popular radio stations. The group reached its peak of popularity in 1978 when their famous CD, The Montreux Album, was released. In the same year, Chris Norman first tried himself in a solo performance, singing a duet with Suzy Quattro.
Today, Chris Norman’s solo career amounts to two dozen albums, and he is not going to retire, releasing fresh records every two years.
Chris Norman admits that his popularity is more due to his father. When the vocalist was 7 years old, dad gave him the first guitar. At that time, rock and roll sounded in the hearts and minds of adolescents, and Chris, like many, was fascinated by this trend. At that time, his idols were Elvis Presley, Little Richard and Lonnie Donegan.
In September 2017, Chris released a new album, “Don't Knock The Rock,” released on vocalist's label “Solo Sound Records”. The disc includes 14 tracks. One song ("Resurrection") was written by Norman in collaboration with his guitarist Jeff Carline, the author of the remaining 13 is Chris himself. The album also featured Norman musicians - Jeff Carline (guitar), Dorino Goldbrunner (drums), Michel Plum (backing vocals) and former vocalist Ellie Luha.
Fans will be pleased that the work contains both rock compositions and ballads, which, one way or another, express the spirit of rock and roll. Now the famous artist travels around the cities with a concert program, in the track list of which there are both old singles and songs from the new album.
Despite the work schedule, the vocalist does not forget about the fans. On social networks, the artist regularly uploads photos from performances, and also shares with subscribers the news taking place in his life.
