It is for certain known that Pushkin simultaneously undertook to write two works connected with the Pugachev revolt. One thing we know well is the adventures of Ensign Grinev in the incredibly authentic "Captain's Daughter", where love is side by side with the realities of the rebellious masses, where death is very close to the heroes and sometimes so insistently breathes them to the back of the head, demanding considerable courage from them.
But the second work "The History of Pugachev" - very few people know, and certainly was not put on stage, although it was published back in 1834.
Where did this split come from? Should it be at all? Or is it necessary to combine both works, complement them with old Cossack songs and see what happens?
Here in the Pushkin Center did not guess - they just took and put an unusual, amazing performance about the Russian riot, terrible in its manifestations and bewitching, like any of the natural disasters.
And see what happened - it's even worth it.
