Second concert of the VI International Festival of Vocal Music by Opera Apriori
A graduate of the Bolshoi Theater Youth Program and the finalist of the Big Opera project of the Kultura TV channel, the soloist of the Berlin State Opera Vasilisa Berzhanskaya and the famous Moscow pianist, composer, arranger and teacher Alexei Kurbatov will perform in the Anglican Church of St. Andrew on March 16. The concert will feature the world premiere of Kurbatov’s chamber opera “Return” to the words of Faina Grimberg’s poem “Andrei Ivanovich returns home” for mezzo-soprano and страш terrible voice ’(reader - bass Petr Safroshkin from the Intrada Vocal Ensemble). In the second part rarely performed Italian songs by the founder of the Russian classics, Mikhail Glinka, will be performed. These works, written in the words of unknown Italian authors without exaggeration can be called Russian bel canto, and they succeed, as a rule, to those singers who perfectly perform Rossini’s music, and this is just the “fad” of Vasilisa, a participant of the Rossini festival in Pesaro. The opera by Alexei Kurbatov has already sounded at the festival: in 2014, the premiere of his Black Monk, based on the story by A.P. Chekhov with the soloists of the Bolshoi Theater and MGASO under the direction of Pavel Sorokin.
