Story

"My dear, good!" - these words Esenina from the poem "Pugachev" author, Vyacheslav Spesivtsev consciously takes out the headline. Turning to the viewer on behalf of the main character, he calls to look at the "habitual" in a new perspective. "A hooligan, a bugger, drank hopelessly, eventually hanged himself" - the image of a poet stamped out by the Soviet era and firmly hammered into the minds of Russians. "White birch" from the school program, yes "Maple fallen", here, perhaps, and all about creativity. But the people's love is unlimited. Yesenin is ours, native in spirit. We accept it as such. But in vain, says the director.

The performance is unusual for mixing many theatrical genres. The specific interpretation by the director V. Spesivtsev of Emelyan Pugachev's image allows us to take a fresh look at the historical role of this man, to see his tragic fate: the pain of defeat, humiliation, Pugachev's misunderstanding by the Russian people. It is tragic in the production and the people's rejection of freedom. And still we need to take classical music performed by Emma Chapplin, forgotten, "unpromising"; in it, the secret of the Russian soul ("minor in major") is hidden. In the same way to fill the performance with tragedy and farce, quick spontaneity and monotony, the brightness of colors and the gloom of heroes - it's just in the spirit of the extra contradictory figure of the rebel Pugachev. Well, in the spirit of the Moscow Experimental Theater under the leadership of Vyacheslav Spesivtsev, of course.
