Premiere
28 DAYS
According to the play of the same name by Olga Shilyaeva.
Production by Yuri Muravitsky and Svetlana Mikhalischeva
Decoration - Catherine Shcheglova
The performance involves students of the actor's laboratory of MSNR (course leaders - Yuri Muravitsky and Svetlana Mikhalischeva).
A bold, painful, outspoken and ironic feminist oratorio for Choir, Heroine and Male voices is built on the principle of ancient tragedy and talks about the relationship of a woman with the opposite sex, nature and Universe, following the stages of the menstrual cycle.
The play has already caused a stormy and ambiguous reaction. Talking about the menstrual cycle in our society is still provocative, the topic is tabooed. And if there is a taboo, then there is a protest. The play "28 days" is primarily a protest.
The directors about the play and the performance: “The play“ 28 days ”is a serious challenge for the theater both in terms of form and content. It needs a new language, which we are looking for with students. Manifestation, postironia, epic form - so, probably, you can define the search space. Realism, psychological theater does not work here. As for the content, it’s obvious to us that the patriarchal world has completely discredited itself and this work is, first of all, an attempt to talk about the main issues from fundamentally different positions. ”
The performance was staged with the support of a grant from the Brewhouse Stage Prize 2018 from the project “Brewhouse”.
