(an adventurous comedy based on the play by Brandon Thomas, in 2 acts,
in Russian)
The comedy by the English playwright Brandon Thomas "Charley's Aunt", first staged in London on February 29, 1892 (ah, this is a leap year !!!), has haunted directors, actors, cinema or theater for over 130 years ... It surprises and pleases the audience with its modernity and relevance. What do you say? Has anything changed since then? Time flies, but everything repeats ... The same love, friendship, mutual assistance ... Well, the same greed ...
What can I say! All lovers are similar to each other, and all those who love money, love them in their own way!
So!
Oxford students in love, Jack and Charles, will have a hard day ahead. They are awaiting with trepidation their beloved, respectable young ladies Annie and Betty, pupils of a strict German uncle, the pilot Spetleig, who vigilantly guards the integrity of the girls.
On the same day, Charley is expecting the arrival of his millionaire aunt from Brazil (whom he has never seen before!).
The date plan is crumbling !!! What to do?!
Here, their friend, in love with Ella Delay, an actor, impoverished Lord Babs Bubrley (what a rhyme, what a rhyme!), Who, moreover, was entrusted with a female role in the theater (not yet Shakespeare's) comes across their arm. Here, good luck! Having promised a sea of champagne, friends persuade Babs to rehearse with them, in the hope that he will entertain his aunt while they go about their amorous affairs. But it was not there! Auntie telegraphs that she is delayed on the road (you see, the cat fell off the train!). The girls take Babs for Charley's aunt, in addition to him, or rather the millionaire aunt, a rich widow, Jack's father Sir Francis Chesney and the girls' uncle Mr. Spetlaig fall in love.
The situation is getting out of hand!
Will the heroes be happy?
