Story

The ballet "Esmeralda" (staged by the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Konstantin Ivanov) in the Mari theater is not like the performances of the same name by other troupes, since the plot of the classical ballet is complicated here: there are lines of characters not represented in the classical version; history is closer to V. Hugo's novel, closer to drama, to human feelings. The tragic finale of the ballet gives rise to not just a love story, but a parable about a man and his passions.

The complex parts of the main characters are also a feature of the ballet. This production is rich in pas de deux, where wonderful soloists in all their glory reveal their choreographic talent, giving the audience the opportunity to enjoy the high art of ballet.
