Director Andrzej Buben:
“Life is not easy for any of us. So what of this? We must have persistence and determination ”- these words Maria Sklodowska-Curie made the motto of her life ... The first woman in the world to receive the Nobel Prize. First person to receive the Nobel Prize twice. The only person awarded the Nobel Prize in two different sciences - physics and chemistry. The first woman teacher in the history of the Sorbonne. First female professor at the Paris Institute. A devoted mother. A loving wife ... Strength of character, purity of thoughts, exactingness towards oneself, objectivity, incorruptible judgments - all these qualities are rarely combined in one person. At any moment she felt that she was serving society, and her great modesty left no room for narcissism.
She made an invaluable contribution to science, discovered previously unknown chemical elements - radium and polonium, laid the foundations for the use of radiology in science and medicine, she lived a difficult life, selflessly and selflessly serving science and people. And not for a moment did she stop loving her Pierre. Even death could not separate them. “I don't even dare to imagine how wonderful it would be if we could live our lives together, enchanted by our dreams ...” Maria's dream came true.
The contemporary Polish playwright Artur Palyga based his play on the original diaries and letters of Marie Curie. Instead of the legendary great scientist, instead of a mythical figure clothed in bronze in a laurel crown, a living, earthly woman will appear in the play. A chain of letters from Mary, written to herself, to her husband and daughters, is the line of her life. Following the mysterious laws of being, letters are formed into a chain of unknown elements: life storms and joys, shocks and ups, victories and disappointments, love and sorrow - and form a bizarre formula of the human soul, unsolved to this day ...
... Poetry and pain, youthful ideals and merciless reality, light and darkness, hard work and great accomplishments, mingling together in the retort of the life of Marie Curie, allowed her to give humanity another great discovery: may our life on Earth be complex, short-lived and unpredictable, but if it has a real goal - it's Happiness "
The performance is being prepared for the 10th anniversary of the Center for Polish-Russian Dialogue and Accord in cooperation with the Teatralnaya Ploschad Foundation.
