“Waking up one morning after a restless sleep, Gregor Samsa discovered that he had turned into a terrible insect in his bed,” is one of the most famous phrases in world literature, beginning Franz Kafka's complex and tensely drawn story. It is surprising that the author does not further reveal the reasons for the "Metamorphosis", confronting the reader only with its consequences - how hard this metamorphosis affects the Gregor family, and how the main character dies, every day more and more losing human self-awareness.
"Transformation" on the stage of the theater "Vernadsky, 13" - play-play, research, investigative experiment aimed at finding the cause of the metamorphosis of Gregor Samsa, an ordinary traveling salesman, who one "fine" day could not leave his room. Who is to blame for the transformation? For whom is this a big punishment - for the main character himself or for his family? Why is Gregor Samsa doomed to die? Couldn't any of us wake up one day and "find" ourselves as an insect? The audience will seek answers to these questions at the same time as the actors trying to survive and find meaning in the terrible and loveless world of Franz Kafka.
Why - a sketch of the play? This is a sketch, the first big assembly. We decided to choose such an unusual format in order to try out a new work together with the audience, so that you would help us in creating this difficult action with your presence, your reaction, your energy. Your opinion, direct communication is very important to us - therefore, after the performance there will be a discussion with the director and performers of the main roles.
