The Moscow New Drama Theater, in the new season 44 of 2018-2019, is launching a large-scale project that includes four main plays by A. Chekhov - “The Seagull”, “Uncle Vanya”, “Three Sisters” and “The Cherry Orchard”

Of course, each of these plays has its own, separate plot. But if you look closely at what is happening in these plays, carefully, get a grasp, then we will find more in common, moving from one play to another, from one place of action to another. Yes, and the scene of all four plays is one - provincial Russia, far from the capital's problems. Chekhov is observing the life of people in one house or another. And there, and there we meet similar characters, we hear not just the same lines and see the same circumstances. And in the whole space of these Chekhov's plays, all his heroes beat and outwardly want to understand "why we live, why we suffer." Anton Pavlovich created a panorama of Russian life on its ebb before a historic fracture that replaced the nation’s gene pool. What human qualities have disappeared forever, which occupied a dominant place in the behavior of people after a change of historical circumstances? It seems that only the desire of a person for happiness, an attempt to understand what it is, remains unchanged.

In each version there are four acts, one each from “The Seagull”, “Uncle Vanya”, “Three Sisters” and “The Cherry Orchard”. 47 characters will go through all the performances of the project, performed by 29 actors.
