Director Polina Fractall: “This is a play about love and honesty in front of you, and that honesty begins with honesty in front of yourself, then in front of others, and sometimes it seems like death - so great is the reluctance of people to face the truth. But if in some situation, in this case - in the family, a lot of lies accumulate, it begins to rot, expressed in the form of diseases and ugly manifestations. To deal with this, you need tremendous courage - this is a living operation. ”
Artist Varvara Timofeeva: “The scenographic solution involves a reference to the Hollywood mood around this play, known throughout the world, and playing with it. We have two spaces: a pavilion in which the film “Cat on a Hot Roof” is being shot, and a certain area outside the pavilion where the actors, leaving or not leaving the image, exist in front of the audience.
I was interested in the fact that in the play there is not only a love story of a man and a woman, but also cross-connections: daughter-in-law and father-in-law, father, son, another daughter-in-law. And in the image of each character, I was looking for how they will be combined - not only in pairs, but also with each other, because against the background of the crisis a lot of internal relationships, feelings and stories are revealed there ”
