What is Eugene Onegin? This is the quintessence of Russian literature.
What is the blues? This is the melody of feelings.
The ironic drama "Onegin Blues" is a theatrical love song "sung" by Alexei Guskov and Igor Butman to the theme of the novel by Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin.
The interweaving of human destinies in the text, the interweaving of genres on stage: the novel in verse sounds to the accompaniment of a string quartet and a saxophone, and the lyric part of Tatiana is performed by a classical ballerina. The thin and airy canvas of the performance plunges into the atmosphere of a well-known, but not all-known history.
Alexey Guskov conceived his stage version of Eugene Onegin many years ago, but only recently all the pieces of the puzzle came together with the assistance of producer Leonid Roberman. The famous director Mikhail Tsitrinyak took on the production, and the world-famous saxophonist Igor Butman was invited to the main musical role, because no one could feel the blues mood of "Onegin" better than him.
