General Linguistics Course Romeo Castellucci The author of the play Romeo Castellucci Co-production of Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio, Italy NOMINENT OF THE NATIONAL THEATRICAL PRIZE "GOLDEN MASK" 2016
The action on the artificial language of Genalissimo, invented by the Society of Raphael Sanzio in 1985 as a result of studies of Creole languages and the universal language "Ars Magna" by Raymond Lullius, developed in the XIII century on the basis of numerology. The structure of the language used for the economical expression of multilayered meanings rises from a common layer consisting of four hundred terms to a pure level of four words.
The play itself and its scenography are based on the canonical Gospel story - the resurrection of Lazarus and Giotto's famous fresco, which depicts Christ approaching the grotto, and Lazar's corpse surrounded by relatives clamping his nose to not feel the stench coming from the already rotting body. The smell of ammonia reminds us of the decay of human flesh, which is opposed by the power of thought. The world premiere of Romeo Castellucci, an artist with a worldwide reputation, was held in Bologna in 2014.
