Story

The Dmitry Pokrovsky Ensemble, founded in 1973, became the first ensemble in Russia to combine a scientific approach to the study of folklore with its professional performance, the traditions of folk music with modern musical culture.

This creative association has developed its own unique vocal school, which is based on the techniques of traditional folklore singing. Masterfully mastering a variety of singing styles and techniques of folk music, the artists masterfully combine them with modern musical performance. Folklore as interpreted by the Dmitry Pokrovsky Ensemble is a living and integral part of national culture and music, capable of capturing the hearts of listeners today and not knowing territorial boundaries.

The Pokrovsky Ensemble became the first ensemble in Russia that truly combined the scientific study of folklore and its professional performance, and the traditions of folk music with modern musical culture. Having laid the foundation for the revival of public interest in genuine folk art, the Pokrovsky Ensemble became one of the most serious contributions of Russia to the entire musical culture of the second half of the twentieth century. A natural combination of traditional and original music using the principles of live improvisation, as before - the business card of the Pokrovsky Ensemble
