Director Maria Romanova:
“In the story“ Bad Anecdote ”we have before us a small piece from the life (more precisely, one evening) of a great official, a real state councilor Pralinsky, who came uninvited to the wedding of his subordinate. Dostoevsky, with a few strokes, creates not only a sketch of bureaucratic Petersburg, but, in fact, a model of bureaucracy from Tsar Gorokh to the present day. All the big bosses think that they are liberals when it comes to reforms, but in reality they are still retrogrades! Dostoevsky also paints a vivid image of the "little man" - the official Pseldonimov, the groom. This elegant anecdote is surprisingly topical: both funny and sad, because for nearly two hundred years nothing in human nature has changed.
In the story "Another's Wife and Husband Under the Bed," the beloved Petersburg classic is revealed from the side of sharp humor and grotesque. You read and do not believe that it is possible to bring situations to such a limit and absurdity. The author makes fun of such an acute passion as jealousy - perhaps he was laughing partly at himself. This story borders on a vaudeville story that can bring a lot of joy and laughter to the audience.
To plunge into the acute nature of Dostoevsky's feelings, play enough power, joke on these topics, reach absurdity and despair - this is an interesting task for me and the artists. "
