"Prince April" Oleg Lundstrem State Chamber Orchestra of Jazz Music Artistic Director and Conductor - Boris FRUMKIN
The Oleg Lundstrem State Chamber Orchestra of Jazz Music is a unique ensemble. As the most "long-playing" big band in the world, it was entered in the Russian Guinness Book of Records. For 85 years, the composition of the group has changed more than once, but one thing has always remained unchanged: classical jazz performed by the "Lundstremovites" is "forever alive", which does not lose its relevance and still amazes listeners with energy and drive.
Oleg Lundstrem was asked the question more than once: what is the secret of the longevity of his orchestra, how does one manage to preserve one's own traditions and bright creative fervor over such a long period of time? The maestro replied: “When I turned 60, for the first time in my life I seriously thought: why are we still alive? Benny Goodman's Big Band disbanded in the 1940s, Tommy Dorsey even earlier, the famous Artie Shaw Orchestra, composed of some of the greats, at the same time. Our orchestra is about the same disorder as Duke Ellington's: someone is arguing about the arrangement, someone is clearing the trombone. Yes, and I, in general, do nothing special: I make programs, we play. Everything is like that of others ... But now I know for sure: no strong hand can hold the team for so many years - only disinterested love for the work you are doing. "
