A musical in nineteen songs

The young composer Dmitry Zhuchenko wrote this musical fairy tale specially for the theater "Through the Looking Glass", where it became a tradition to open new works of contemporary composers for the audience.

Who does not know the brave mongoose Ricky? .. Familiar to all and other heroes of the story, composed by Rudyard Kipling: the inexhaustible birdie-tailor Darzi, the good boy Teddy, the timid musky rat of Chuchoundra and, of course, the main villains are a married couple of black glasses co-nag Nag and Nagayna.

Theater "Through the Looking Glass", like a bird Darzi, praises the exploits of the brave Rikki-Tikki-Tavi:

"Tail before the hero razvei!

Thrill fly to heaven!

Sing to him, sing, nightingale!

No, I'll sing to him myself!

Of course, Ricky, the conqueror of snakes, a small fearless animal, desperately rushing into battle with death, is worthy of glory! Glory "to his brave claws, his fangs to his white and fiery-red eyes!". But in "Through the Looking Glass" they sing to him a hymn not only because he won in battle, but also because the little mongoose had a noble heart and knew what generosity, selfless devotion and friendship are.

In the play, both honored artists and young people are engaged - all of them play birds, rats and snakes with excitement and unusual enthusiasm. The musical is accompanied by an instrumental ensemble, and for the visual side of the action one of the most creatively bright St. Petersburg stage designers, Vladimir Firer, who has collaborated with the theater "Through the Looking Glass" for a long time.

In "the Looking-Glass" they are sure that the battle cry of the valiant mongoose "Rikki-tikki-tikki-chik!" Will remember every one who comes to the play, and the true, selfless heart of the intrepid Ricky will make every child not only braver, but also kinder.
