We invite you to visit one of the most traditional excursion programs in Moscow, however, in an exclusive author's version. In this version, we will try to touch on several little-known details of the life of old Moscow, first of all we will try to compare the times of the Old Believer schism and the second half of the 20th century, when, surprisingly, a lot of interesting things happened in the religious life of Moscow.
We will start with the Andronnikov Monastery, in the vicinity of which, at the beginning of the 20th century, there was an Old Believer Yamskaya Sloboda. On the territory of the monastery we will see the most ancient temple of Moscow - the Cathedral of the Savior Not Made by Hands of the 15th century, as well as the entrance to the underground, where the Archpriest Avvakum was imprisoned. Not far from Andronnikov, there is a monument of Old Believer culture little known to a wide audience - the former building of the church of St. Nikola, which is not so easy to find, as well as several historic mansions that make up an original corner of old Moscow.
However, the main center of Old Believers' Moscow and all of Russia is still the Rogozhskaya Sloboda. Here we will visit one of the several temples of the village, as well as carefully examine some corners of the Rogozhsky Old Believer cemetery. In conclusion, we will go to the ruins of the Simonov monastery, the towers and walls of which, as well as the temple of the Tikhvin icon and several other historical buildings will help us imagine how Moscow looked in the Middle Ages.
During the trip we:
let's talk about the difference between the "old" and "new" faith, in addition to rituals
we will see the entrance to the dungeon, where Archpriest Avvakum spent about a month in captivity, and if we are very lucky, we will go to the walls of the Andronnikov monastery
we will try to understand the intricacies of numerous Old Believers' interpretations and agreements, and much more ...
Gathering at 10:45. Beginning at 11:00 st. m. "Mayakovskaya", st. Bolshaya Sadovaya, 14 at the entrance to the garden "Aquarium".
