Director Natalya Nazarova: “When they see Platonov's name on the poster, they often think that it will, of course, be stylish, atmospheric, but boring. Of course, this has the right to be, Platonov is very different. But I would like to talk about serious things in a fun way during this difficult time. After all, Platonov is a very witty author, he is the heir of Gogol, from the company of Marquez. His prose is fantastic realism. In a word, we get at times a terrible, at times funny and very absurd fairy tale. This is a play about how people fall into great collective illusions, and how these illusions lead to disasters. Maria Skobtsova, a theologian and nun, has a brilliant phrase: "The 20th century will be the century of the greatest collective chimeras and illusions." This is what we saw in Nazi Germany, in Soviet Russia. .. XXI century, it seems to me, is a century of no less illusions. But at the same time, in terms of genre, our performance is a comedy. We tried to move away from the stereotypes of Platonov's productions. Wonderful Moscow Art Theater actors are involved in the play. When I selected them, first of all, I paid attention to how they exist in the ensemble. I can say: the ensemble that happened is perfect. "
