Heroic and romantic representation

In the Year of Russian History and the 200th Anniversary of the Victory of the Russian People in the Patriotic War of 1812, the Moscow State Historical and Ethnographic Theater staged a play at the heart of which was the heroic folk drama "How the French took Moscow".
Whoever looked at the past of the Motherland, however, our people see the story with their own eyes. And the theater initially is interested in this original, with no other incomparable vision of the whole life order and way of life, and the spirit of the national play is akin to it, passed through itself, is known from within and lived.
In the play of the French emperor, "King Napoleon" is named, and he behaves in such a way that his behavior should irritate the audience: he is ambitious and even hopeless. Potemkin, being a prisoner of Napoleon, remains faithful to the sovereign Alexander I and does not want to be a traitor. Napoleon decides to execute him. An honest and noble hero encounters a cruel and stupid ruler.
The folk drama "How the French took Moscow", filled with fighting spirit and sparkling, ruthless folk humor, was especially played in the soldiers' milieu. So, according to the director's conception, "this heroic play" will be played and presented by the heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812, veterans and invalids, who are destined to be seen in the walls of the Izmailovo Nikolayevskaya military almshouse! They were among those of their fellows who heard Mikhail Kutuzov's fiery appeal: "Brave and victorious troops! Finally you are on the borders of the empire, each of you is the savior of the Fatherland. Russia welcomes you with this name. "
So that viewers have a rare opportunity to meet face to face with the participants of the very same people's battle with the dashing Frenchman, to hear the living memories of its participants and the rare folk songs of that heroic era.
“ I really liked the historical and ethnographic theater with its warm, soulful atmosphere, a great game of actors. And the play "As a Frenchman took Moscow" is worth seeing everyone: both adults and children. A real Russian word! The spirit of patriotism!
“ A wonderful performance, combining the talent and work of the director and actors, respect for Russian history, a remarkably subtle reflection of the Russian national mentality.
