Hans Christian Andersen is an author who needs no introduction. Generations have grown on his magical stories. But it is customary to protect children from overly violent, in the opinion of adults, plot twists. After all, we still remember, isn’t that what the Little Mermaid actually ends with? Andersen's tales are wise, and therefore sad. Not all finals can be happy, justice does not always triumph. But this does not mean that there is no need to fight at all. Children will face adulthood sooner or later, and parents will not always be able to protect them from trials and obstacles, protecting, like porcelain Shepherdess and Chimney sweep. But fairy tales give children a chance to learn and believe that love and devotion are still valued, and courage and perseverance are worth rewarding.
Asya Knyazeva, director: “It seems to me that there is no person in the world who has not read Andersen's fairy tales. When you re-read them, you understand what deep thoughts are in fairy tales. The child perceives the first layer of a particular fairy tale, but intuitively he feels another layer, the deep one. In The Resistant Tin Soldier, the hero and the ballerina die, but win. And the true heart of the tin soldier remains. A shepherdess and chimney sweep break out of the familiar world, but they are frightened of the vast world and come back. They are alive, but they lost, they were afraid to sacrifice peace, but maybe they are right. There is a world of an adult, there is a world of a child, and, perhaps, a theater allows a person to preserve their childhood features. ”
