Painter Ekaterina DZHAGAROVA
Video artist Alexei BERSENIEV
Performed by: Elena Nesterova, Valentin SAMOKHIN
In the center of the play is the history of the relationship between Marcus and Heidi. 20 years ago he was a young pastor, and she was his young assistant. They were close, but one wrong act by Marcus separated them. After so many years, the heroes meet again. He was disappointed in the pastor and author of the acclaimed book, she is a member of a religious community. What will be the consequences of the unexpected meeting of these two seemingly very different people?
Pavel RUDNEV, theater critic: "In Russia, nothing like this seemed to be possible, so that from the stage into the hall the violent monologues of the metal priest-rebel, exposing clericalism and asserting true religiosity. The rebellious priest persuades with the word of truth and the passion of his renunciation of dogmatism, but loses an equally fierce love fight, and without learning to be a good shepherd outside the ecclesiastical pulpit. "
Kristina MATVIENKO, theater critic: "Two artists - Valentin Samokhin and Elena Nesterova - most accurately act out a complex dialogue between the ex-priest and his former parishioner who struck sectarianism. The two - once in the religious youth camp obviously sucked each other affection or even love - are facing the viewer on a narrow rectangle of the scene; it - for lecturing desk, she - side, modestly and timidly to intercede on the territory of its treasured enemy. Behind the heroes is a round eye-screen, where the actors are currently projected, then the black and white outlines of their faces that do not have a direct relationship to what is happening, but which give an emotional color to the "living plan" ... The play, and after it the meaningful And precise direction Surkovoy, capturing their sharp temperament, move the viewer forward in the back streets of the intellectual dispute, turning into a dramatic story of lost feelings, responsibility for what has been said and done ... Our audience is more likely to lose interest quotation marks follow the delights discussion about Scripture, and in general the adventures of ideas on stage. "Fundamentalists" - a happy exception, helping the public find freedom and a happy understanding of what you are talking seriously and fun on the theme, now relevant for Russian society. A former pastor, now a scholar and author of a sensational book revising an irrational attitude toward Scripture, tries to sober up a woman who was once in love ... In the Finale of Fundamentalists, there is as much bitterness and melancholy as the calm acceptance of the fact that people as a whole are not Ready for self-sacrifice and responsibility. "

“ Excellent, chamber work. Artists play fine, from the first minutes of the play entering their roles, sometimes playing so convincingly that the viewer begins to feel real emotions towards them. Very interesting visual accompaniment, two small screens on the wall, where alternately appear images of b / w heroes and images from the phone. The performance is complex, multi-layered, and due to its intimacy it seems as if it involves the viewer in his game, where everyone is an equal participant in the action. The main themes of the play are religion / faith / theology. It would seem close, but completely different concepts. The protagonist is a theologian, scientist, he considers all processes and everything that happens to him from the point of view of science. The main character is a girl / woman who believes, her words and deeds are imbued with faith. From the very beginning it becomes clear that the heroes, speaking of one thing, say, nevertheless, about different things. Both heroes are fundamentalists, each in his own way, it is difficult to say whether they understand this themselves. The performance will suit the viewer who is ready for a frank conversation on the themes of religion and faith.
