For the basis of the play, the cult Norwegian playwright Yun Fosse takes on a striking fact of history. Suzanne, the wife of the famous writer Henrik Ibsen, after his death did not leave the house for eight years, until she died. In the play, Fosse, Susanna talks to her husband as if she were alive. Her monologues revive Ibsen and present to us a figure of cosmic scale. The Creator, who sought Love and gained universal sorrow, is the way Ibsen appears in solitary conversations and in Susanna's dreams.
"Suzanne" is dedicated to a man, but tells the story of a woman. In the play, three ages of heroines, played by three actresses, meet in the quaint space of Susanna's imagination or memory. This "place of action" gives the possibility of fantastic assumptions, surrealistic combinations, play at times.
