Spectators of the performance will be presented in action reconstructed noise devices, which were invented in the early 20th century for theatrical sound design. Their creator was the actor and inventor V.A. Popov. Authors and participants of the project will perform several "noise landscapes" on these unique instruments.
"Sound Landscapes" will be performed on devices designed for noise design in the theater, cinema and widely distributed before the use of gramophone and magnetic recording began. After that, they were completely forgotten - as a uselessness these tools either remained single copies in theater museums, or completely disappeared.
In 2012, the Petra Aydu Music Laboratory, within the framework of the ReConstruction project of the Noise (with the support of the Polytechnic Museum), reconstructed a significant part of the devices, others were specially created for this project.
The original instruments, along with other stage equipment, had a purely applied purpose and therefore always remained behind the scenes. In "Sound Landscapes" on the contrary, they serve not as props or ancillary equipment, which should be hidden from the viewer, but by musical instruments capable of creating original sound pictures.
"Sound Landscapes" will allow to hear noise as a symphony of voices of the surrounding world, being composed in a kind of sound-expressive landscape. More precisely, in four genre paintings: Landscape No. 1, Industrialization, Landscape No. 2, Dies Irae. In these "noise landscapes" is captured that high abstraction of music, which never drops to the clarity of things, but which allows us to hear their voice, to see their essence.
The project was created by musician Peter Aydu, with the participation of actors and the choir of the theater, as well as invited performers.
Sound landscapes are created with the help of devices designed by VA. Popova, G.S. Volynets, Alexander Starkov (FlosFlorum), Svyatoslav Ponomarev.
